Just doing a bit of back blogging. This is, Injury a label I first discovered on a blog years ago, and showed in a men's group show during Mercedes Fashion Week Australia this year. I was intrigued by the alternative dark aesthetic of the label. Back in 2010, I did an interview with designer of the label, Eugene Leung here. The Sydney-based label also has a huge Asian follow in their origins in Hong Kong. Although only showing the men's range at fashion week, they also do womenswear and most of the garments are quite androgynous anyway.
It was nice to visit their showroom to see the pieces they showed on the runway in person. The Spring/Summer 2013 range titled "Underneath" showcases a collection that encapsulates that idea. It's all about layers, where pieces can be added or removed either inside or out. Detail is one of those important things and for a person who appreciates fashion and design I particularly liked the interesting structures the label creates. Some include a removable inner vest that looks quite harness-skeletal like and lapels of blazers that could be slipped in to the jacket and some with sleeves that have drawstrings that allow it to be pulled up curving nicely with the arm and elbow. I liked their snake/pipe and broken glass prints they created for their label and even these have the concept of "underneath" with prints under prints. Of course I also loved the leather pieces. Felt a little Rick Owens.
