INJURY S/S 2013 | UNDERNEATH

Just doing a bit of back blogging. This is, Injury a label I first discovered on a blog years ago, and showed in a men's group show during Mercedes Fashion Week Australia this year. I was intrigued by the alternative dark aesthetic of the label. Back in 2010, I did an interview with designer of the label, Eugene Leung here. The Sydney-based label also has a huge Asian follow in their origins in Hong Kong. Although only showing the men's range at fashion week, they also do womenswear and most of the garments are quite androgynous anyway.

It was nice to visit their showroom to see the pieces they showed on the runway in person. The Spring/Summer 2013 range titled "Underneath" showcases a collection that encapsulates that idea. It's all about layers, where pieces can be added or removed either inside or out. Detail is one of those important things and for a person who appreciates fashion and design I particularly liked the interesting structures the label creates. Some include a removable inner vest that looks quite harness-skeletal like and lapels of blazers that could be slipped in to the jacket and some with sleeves that have drawstrings that allow it to be pulled up curving nicely with the arm and elbow. I liked their snake/pipe and broken glass prints they created for their label and even these have the concept of "underneath" with prints under prints. Of course I also loved the leather pieces. Felt a little Rick Owens.

ICON BRAND | LOST ON TOUR COLLECTION

Last week there was a small get together for menswear accessory label, Icon Brand's launch of their new summer collection, Lost On Tour, at their newly refurbished head office. It was a cool, laid back night with some live music from Joel Chapman (from Amy Meredith), Andy Cleland (from Bones Bones Bones), Jack Dawson and some spins from Dane Rumble, while we browsed through the new range, grabbing a beer, a bite to eat from the bbq, some rice paper rolls and sushi.

In the new collection titled Lost On Tour, it's all about the "journey between the journeys." The range includes caps, wallets, rings, necklaces, bracelets and iPad sleeves in various fabrics. They also released "Lost + Found," a collective of lifestyle items for the apartment, with a "worn functionality" aesthetic, including playing cards and candles. For Icon Brand it's all about organic growth. Their campaign features the guys from Amy Meredith, which perfectly depicts the range. Check out Icon Brand's real affordable range online here.

On the night there were also some cool eyewear displayed from Sunday Somewhere, an eyewear label with classic and modern frames. One of my favourites is the Matahri frames! You gotta check it out on their site! Thanks to Dave for kindly giving me a new pair of sunnies!

I went along my friend Lauren and had a little snappy fun with the caps and Sunday Somewhere glasses! The photo of me hiding behind the playing cards, is courtesy of Life Without Andy! Also, for these images, in comparison to my usual vibrant photos, I decided to create some overlaid textures and make it feel kind of rustic, vintagy, old kinda looking. What do you think?

ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA | AUTUMN WINTER 2012/13 SHOWING

Ermenegildo Zegna always impresses, as one of the premium menswear brands in the world. The luxury and quality is always high and there would not be one man who wouldn't be able to find something that they like over their lines of products. Plus, every man needs a suit!

Here in Australia, we are shown the Autumn/Winter range, but just cannot wait for the Spring/Summer that just showed in Milan to land in Sydney! Below, I am sporting a ZZegna jacket and bag that both have bronze zipper detailing (not visible in the below picture). The drop shoulder, oversized cut and shape of the coat makes it perfect for layering in winter. The waistcoat with the strapped at the back was a favourite of mine, reminding me a bit of an assassin, James Bond feel to it.

We can see where the camo trend creeps in, from the ZegnaSport range.

The Ermenegildo Zegna collection blends shades of wood brown, hazelnut, snow white, the okra of dry leaves and midnight blue with plaids, checks and patchworks. In particular I fell in love with the dark navy blazer made from the ultra luxurious brushed alpaca fabric. The textures in the range are prominent, mixing suede, shearling, fur, leather corduroy and of course wool.

Also, earlier in the month, they held a collaboration with Sydney Film Festival, celebrating the launch of the festival for 2012, as part of their global support for the arts.
