Now, I know what you might be thinking from the first part of the title of this blog post. Erase your mind from any perception you are relating to it. Must admit, I was unsure at first, but when I saw the line up and on a cruise, I was sold! I called up one of my funnest friends, Lauren and we were there!
A few months ago, Durex had an exclusive party on the 3 level Starship Sydney. It really was just an excuse to party and bring out some of the best DJs over to Sydney for an event like no other. This was a first of it's kind in Australia, a floating festival moving across Sydney Harbour. The Starship Sydney set sail in the afternoon into the night, with 360 degrees glass, providing a spectacular view whilst everyone danced away. Literally a floating club, it included a open roof deck filled with plants and bamboo fencing on the third level plus a view of the set on the main ground floor from the VIP area on the second floor, which gave the perfect view.
My summer favourites Flight Facilities played up smooth tunes on the roof as the sun set, whilst Rudimental played on the main ground floor. As we went into the night, Steve Aoki arrived and everyone headed and packed in. It was mental and his signature crowd surfing was taken to the next level when he literally climbed up from ground floor, hung onto lights to come up to the VIP area on the second floor and jumped down into the crowd into an inflatable boat. It was mental and lets just say, he does make for quite the thrill. Oh, and he also pumped out a liquid nitrogen-filled smoke cannon to cool the crowd down.
Catch a few mash up videos I recorded of his sets below and the video where Steve Aoki spends a moment with the guys from Flight Facilities before he takes the leap from the second floor! Plus other snippets from the night! It's best to watch them in HD, click to switch them in the YouTube videos.
